The Ride: From Collingwood and the Blue Mountains, explore the natural beauty of southern Georgian Bay and discover why this area is so popular with cyclists and all season outdoor adventurers. Never far from the blue water views of the Bay, the jagged cliffs and greenery of the Niagara Escarpment, sample the local flavours, visit heritage town centres and artisans’ galleries, on peaceful off road trails and looped routes that include country road returns on this weekend long ride.
Experience Level and Ride Guide: Easy to more moderate and challenging. Pick from an easier option well suited to more casual riders that includes off road unpaved trails and short gravel country roads segments. Or slightly longer loops that include off road trail and returns on quieter paved roads, with some elevations. Suitable for hybrid, gravel, mountain bikes, and road bikes with wider tires. Enjoy a group ride option or ride at your own pace using detailed maps and information provided.

Day 1: Collingwood to Thornbury – 40km or 60km
Pedal on the delightful Georgian Trail and enjoy the views of the Niagara Escarpment, Blue Mountain and the sparkling waters of Georgian Bay. With a number of waterside and beach access points along the way, including Craigleith Provincial Park, take a slow roll into the pretty town of Thornbury. Visit the trailside cidery and unique shops downtown before lunch and the afternoon ride. Return on roads that loop through Clarksburg and its galleries, Heathcote and the Blackbird Pie Co and past the Georgian Hills Vineyard. Pull into Blue Mountain Village for refreshments before circling back to Collingwood. Alternatively, trail lovers may opt to extend the ride to Meaford and or simply return to Collingwood using the trail. Explore downtown Collingwood from overnight accommodations at the well situated Comfort Inn & Suites.
Day 2: Collingwood to Stayner to Creemore – 40km or 58km
Follow the waterfront trails and parks to the iconic old Collingwood train station and museum. Connect on to the Clearview Collingwood Train Trail for an easy ride through forested lots and past rolling pastures with the ever-present Escarpment backdrop. From near the trail terminus in Stayner, pedal onto the quiet country roads and into Creemore to enjoy lunch in this charming village. Sample some treats from the local bakery or visit Creemore Springs Brewery and enjoy some downtime on a patio. Loop back to Collingwood, and coast downhill for 20km on road connecting back to the Train Trail to end a spectacular ride weekend exploring the Georgian Bay and Collingwood area.
